The Butterfly Lovers or Liang Zhu is a Chinese legend about the tragic romance between two lovers, Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai
A young woman named Zhu Yingtai from Shangyu, Zhejiang, disguised herself as a man travelling to Hangzhou to study. During her journey, she met and joined Liang Shanbo, a companion schoolmate from Kuaiji (會稽, Kuàijī, now known as Shaoxing) in the same province. They studied together for three years, during which their relationship strengthened. When the two parted, Zhu offered to arrange for Liang to marry her 16 year-old fictitious sister. When Liang travelled to Zhu's home, he discovered her true gender. Although they were devoted and passionate about each other at that point, Zhu was already engaged with Ma Wencai (馬文才, Mǎ Wéncái), a man her parents had arranged for her to be married to. Depressed, Liang died in office as a county magistrate. On the day Zhu was to be married to Ma, whirlwinds prevented the wedding procession from escorting Zhu beyond Liang's tomb. Zhu left the procession to pay her respects for Liang. Liang's tomb split apart, and Zhu dived into it to join him. A pair of butterflies emerged from the tomb and flew away. (閱讀全文)

也許有人會說，女主角是舊式泛道德的貞節烈女，根本不懂愛情。我卻覺得，她可能太懂愛情了，她知道初戀註定了不會有結果，一旦有了結果，可能就變成惡夢，因為她已經長大，懂得面對真實人生。

1964年塞利格曼還是研究生就與梅耶及歐佛米爾共同發現「習得無助」的行為模式，他們以動物做實驗得知動物也會痛苦與挫折，也可能會憂鬱，因此也開始重視人類憂鬱症。1970年代科學研究發現當人類無法解決難題時，時常轉化成無助的人，從實驗中顯示「習得無助」和憂鬱症在大腦裡有相似的生化缺陷。台灣大學吳英璋教授就曾以「習得無助」的行為模式搭配格瑞瑟的「真實治療」協助患有憂鬱或自殺傾向的個案，這些個案或多或少獲得有效的改變。
塞利格曼在療程中發現某些個案在了解自己的長處後，發生了顯著的成長與轉變，但某些則受不了痛、受不了苦馬上投降，這讓塞利格曼產生疑問：「為什麼有人受苦還不放棄，又為什麼有些人第一次接觸困難就馬上放棄。」
這樣的契機讓塞利格曼漸漸地放下「習得無助」研究方向，轉向「樂觀的習得及正向心理學」。後續的研究確實發現「發展正向情緒，建構長處與美德」有助於人類幸福生活的發展。長處與美德會幫助我們抵抗不幸的心理疾病，像防震保護層似地使我們不受傷害，甚至成為重建再起的關鍵。塞利格曼提出「習得」「樂觀」，並鼓勵你找出及培養長處，他也因而成為正向心理學新運動最著名的發言人。

Carleton S. (Carly) Fiorina was president and chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard Company from 1999 to 2005. She served as chairman of the board from 2000 to 2005. Prior to joining HP, Fiorina spent nearly 20 years at AT&T and Lucent Technologies, where she held a number of senior leadership positions and directed Lucent's initial public offering and subsequent spin-off from AT&T. Fiorina was named an honorary fellow of the London Business School in July 2001. In 2002, she was honored with the Appeal of Conscience Award, and in 2003 she received the Concern Worldwide "Seeds of Hope" Award in recognition of her worldwide efforts to make global citizenship a priority for business. 這可能是所有作家的噩夢。瘋狂學者窺伺、跟蹤、藉機親近年邁詩人，並在詩人死於非命後，掠奪拐騙遺作手稿，自命出版執行人，執意撰寫超出原作數倍的冗長「評注」，在裡面摻雜真假難辨的謊言、偏執囈語、個人軼事，以及誇大妄想的精神幻覺。
《幽冥的火》（Pale Fire, 1962）是當代後設小說的早期經典，已經玩得相當「過火」！看起來像是一首999行長詩的「注釋版」，首尾俱全，有序、文本、評注、索引，但其實通通都是虛構，處處顯示作者編織文字的高超功力。文學批評也是文學創作？評論壓倒本文？這些主張在文學理論大盛時常有人說，也有其普遍的道理，然而納博科夫（Vladimir Nabokov）在小說裡，運用一個極端特例，探索「原創」與「寄生」的弔詭、作品與評論之間的辯證關係、作家與學者之間你死我活的鬥陣。
讀者學者是否有意「篡位」？如果讀者有耐心又愛玩，喜歡解謎和捉迷藏，可以慢慢拼湊，跟作者下一盤棋。美國詩人謝德（意即：陰影）和其鄰居金波特博士的關係到底如何？同性戀傾向的金波特是什麼來歷？金波特主觀認為謝德詩中牽涉許多他遙遠祖國「冷珀」的人物、歷史、宮廷祕辛、革命動亂，「冷珀」是妄想的虛構國度嗎？金波特其實是隱姓埋名的「冷珀」國王？或者，那是金波特另一個僭越的奇思異想？「冷珀」派出刺客追殺，所以詩中出現「弒君」的暗語？是金波特創造謝德，還是謝德創造出金波特？還是另有其人？由於金波特是典型的「不可靠敘述者」，游移在想像與瘋狂之間，「真相」迷離不明，只剩下迷宮中的捕風捉影。
在「評注」的層層掩埋下，謝德詩作的「原文」「原意」都被居心叵測的金波特扭曲解讀。金波特宣稱，他利用日常接觸的機會，告訴詩人其祖國「冷珀」的事情，希望能入詩，後來發現謝德詩中難見祖國蹤影，決定自行在評注中「恢復」被抹去的「原貌」。於是，隱身在非小說的序和評注之後，有一部小說、一個國度、一個異質世界、一個虛構宇宙。在「序」裡，金波特提到從走廊看到謝德在院子裡焚燒初稿所生「幽冥的火」，點出主題。書中充滿古典火和光的隱喻：如果莎劇中說，月亮從太陽偷取「幽冥的火」，那麼經過海面反射、鏡子反映的循環之後，何者是源頭？何者是主？何者是賊？
多年前，後設小說流行的年代裡，在蔡源煌老師的課初讀《幽冥的火》，領教「後羅麗塔」納博科夫的迷宮。那時候，文字迷宮是世界文壇最流行的文本譬喻：波赫士的迷宮點到為止，在短篇故事裡優雅暗示廣大無垠的圖書館、百科全書、沙漠、鏡中鏡、歧路花園；愛捕蝴蝶的納博科夫體力好，花不少功夫擠出999行的英雄偶句體詩，寫得辛苦，還一字字精心描繪迷宮中的篡奪、認同、易位。詩不好寫，也不好譯，而且納博科夫小說的英文，過於賣弄選字和過度雕琢文句，再加上字謎遊戲，對譯者而言幾乎是不可能的任務。我們要感謝譯者六年的努力，使隱遁評注身後的小說迷宮得以在我們的語言裡浮現、變身、衍生、擴散、連結、複製。
